We at NECOM Solutions have noticed over the past several years that the telecommunications industry has been rapidly moving away from traditional analog (Central Office or C.O.) lines and TDM (Time Division Multiplexing), or T1 circuits. The new wave of the future is communications via the internet, commonly referred to as Voice over Internet Protocal (VoIP)1. Great cost savings, as well as impressive features and continuity can be achieved by utilizing VoIP, but most consumers are not informed of how services provided through VoIP can save them money. However, VoIP technology is not a cost saver for every company, a careful analysis of current operations and desired goals will need to be performed before NECOM Solutions will recommend VoIP.SIP TrunkingOne way of utilizing VoIP is by using SIP Trunking as your method of line service, in place of analog lines and/or making further use of an existing broadband connection (Cable Modem, Data T1, FiOS). Depending upon the infrastructure and nature of the business, this could potentially consolidate expensive monthly costs for Voice T1 circuits or C.O. lines for a quick ROI on the inital setup costs. Rates and plans do vary between providers, NECOM Solutions helps match your current phone and data usage to the correct provider's plans to maximize the cost benefits, as well as features to your business.An evaluation of how many average concurrent calls, as well as taking into account the maximum, will indicate how many SIP trunks are required. The trunks themselves incur a monthly charge, similar to how analog lines are billed, and are generally comparable to those analog line costs. Usage plans again vary by provider to fit many needs, and can be structured similar to an analog line, or in bulk packages like a T1 contract. SIP Trunking service also includes many advanced features; including DID, E911, automatic failover to specified location (cell phone/branch office), as well as having a foreign exchange to avoid toll charges.Dynamic Data T1 CircuitsAs society moves towards utilizing IP as a communications medium for voice, data and video; many of the major service providers have revamped their backbone technology to be more flexible to accomodate this change. Previously, a customer would have to specify how many channels to dedicate to voice, and how many to data, totalling up to 24 channels provided by the T1 circuit. The drawback to this method is that if no voice channels are being used, there is no opportunity to use those channels as data, leaving the customer with a restricted amount of bandwidth. As email and attachments on email are growing larger by the day, a lack of bandwidth can be a high concern, even for the smallest of companies.A dynamic data T1 is the solutions many service providers have been promoting over the fractional T1 circuits they had been offering in the past. These data circuits are configured to utilize all 24 channels for data when no voice calls are active, and automatically adjusts the available bandwidth when each call is placed. Of course this solution is not suitable for every business. A business that typically has over 8 to 10 active calls at one time would not greatly benefit from this solution, as the bandwidth would be noticably slow.MPLS/VPN NetworksWhile not new technology, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)4 networks offer great advantages to multi-site corporations that need to share resources and communication between all branches. Capable of spanning across the globe, all interoffice voice, data and video run on your own private network. MPLS networks allow point-to-point connections, or Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections without the hassle and headache of configuring hardware, the service provider controls the decision making components. Greater security is obtained using this type of network as well, as no confidential data is being transmitted over the public internet when communicating between sites.

The e-mail first came to BBB’s attention on April 12, 2010.Several businesses across the US--including law firms, advertising agencies and architecture firms--have reported receiving a suspicious e-mail from the address seatac_bbb.org with the subject line “BBB Complaint Case #” followed by a nine-digit number. Both BBB Accredited and non-Accredited businesses have been targeted.The body of the e-mail claims that the company did not respond to a complaint filed by a Jason Harlow (however other names may be used) and includes a link to a page at www.ca-bbb.org where the business can supposedly review the complaint.
